Koala Land just had their national election. It was such a big event google changed their logo. I don't think google ever changed their logo for Bolehland election.
Early in our family uncle started in his own campaigning in the house. There is only 1 party you can vote and with reason as well. The current government obviously has been running the country to the ground. The partying campaign here is very open. They even advertise during peak TV show times.
One morning when I was blurry eye the local MP was actually standing at the train station and shook my hand. My first thought was, who is this 'hamsem' ah pek shake my hand so early in the morning. Second thought was wow, I shake a MP hand. Third thought was, what was he doing in our small train station? Must be desperate.
On the voting day itself, you were given many advise on how to vote. There was even a hot dog stand. It was peaceful but compulsory. There is no excuse for not voting. Overseas? Go embassy. Going on vacation? Vote early.
Uncle: Do you know the penalty for not voting?
Me: What?
Uncle: Death.
Me: WHAT??
Uncle: No joking... it's A$200.00. And there are no exceptions..
Me: Wow......I guess there is a way to exempt from it.
Uncle: Nah, there isn't..
Me: Well you can't vote if you die..
Uncle: .....
